the fact that I can still make people laugh at my jokes,
the fact that I still can laugh out loud or smile like a retard,
the fact that I can cry while watching sad films,
the fact that I can cry when I am broken,
are all blessing from God!

I can not predict what will happen tomorrow
but God gave me the chance to stay alive
to find out what's next in every pages of my life so far.

Therefore,
Instead of whining about how bad people are
or how tormented I'm feeling,
I should always remember that things happened for many reasons...

It could also be karma!
I might have done something in the past that made me deserve this kind of heartaches
(which I always assume are punishments from the Almighty).

but as God's creation,
God blessed us with great thinking ability...
God didn't just strike a bolt of lightning straight at me.
Instead, God moved my heart to tell my brain
to give my whole life a second thought!

when shit happens, I questioned God...
questioning my Creator in an unwanted-child tone!
accusing my creator of unfairness!
but when things turns out AWESOME,
did I really went all out questioning God how come everything turns out great!
Did I? NEVER!
All I did was, thanking God for answering my prayers!

In conclusion,
when all the shit happens,
I have no one to blame but myself!
Yes, I put the blame on me...

no need to slit my wrists...
when the world refuses to listen,
I won't be muted...
I will continue blabbering my story to God!

However, the celebration of the 14 of February actually began in the ancient Roman tradition festival of Lupercalia. Lupercalia is the festival of fertility that originally was celebrated on the February 15 but with the rise of Christianity in the Roman Empire on 496 AD, the festival then was changed to February 14th the Saint Valentine’s Day. In a way, the Romas Christianised the Lupercalia celebration

In the ancient Roman history, February was considered a time for purification as it marks the beginning of the season spring. Houses were cleansed through some special ritual that consist of sweeping the dust out and sprinkling salt and a type of wheat called Spelt all throughout the interior of the house.

To begin the festival, members of the Luperci, an order of Roman priests, would gather at the sacred cave, Palatine Hill, where Romulus and Remus were believed to be raised by a she-wolf before they eventually founded Rome. There, the Luperci would sacrifice a goat, for fertility, and a dog, for purification.

The pagan males would then sliced the goat skins into strips, dipped them in the sacrificial blood and took to the streets, gently slapping women and fields of crops with the goat skin strips. The pagan females welcomed being “touched” with the strips because it was believed the strips would make them more fertile in the coming year.

To the Pagan Romans, February was sacred to Goddess Juno Februata, the goddess of fever of love, and of women and marriage. In conjunction with this day, young pagan women in the city would place their names in a big pot. The city's bachelors would then each choose a name out of the pot and become paired for the year with his chosen woman. Those whose name was drawn would become a “couple,” joining in erotic games at feasts and parties celebrated throughout Rome. After the festival, they would remain sexual partners for the rest of the year.

This tradition was practiced by the Pagan Romans for centuries and often ended in marriage. However, when Pope Gelasius declared February 14th a Saint Valentine's Day around 498 A.D, The Pagan Roman "lottery" pairing culture was deemed un-Christian and outlawed and so the tradition was banished from the celebration of Saint Valentine’s Day on February 14th.

Over the centuries, St. Valentine’s Day cards became popular, especially by the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. These cards were painted with pictures of Cupid and hearts, and meticulously decorated with lace, silk or flowers. These cards were given by the males mostly to the women that their heart desire and mostly will sign the card with, “from your Valentine”.

There may be doubts regarding the actual identity of Valentine, he has been proven existed because archaeologists have recently unearthed a Roman catacomb where an ancient church dedicated to a Saint named, Valentine was built.

Valentine’s Day’s legend or history or origin is quite murky but no matter in what version researcher may stumble upon, all of the stories certainly emphasises Valentine’s appeal as a sympathetic, heroic, and of course, a significant romantic figure and the celebration is all about love.<

AGAIN, I'm NOT saying one MUST NOT celebrate V'Day... All I'm saying is that, one should understand what a celebration is all about AND celebrate it moderately...

Hearts and Chocolates Day – Why Do We Celebrate it Anyway?

Food, drinks, fireworks, gifts, candies, chocolates, marshmallows, loud music and crowd is what makes a perfect party for every teenagers of the world. In this modern era, even the younglings merely aged ten to twelve years old too are keen on partying with friends.

Nowadays, the mind of youngsters are being colonised by the westerners. They (westerners) somehow created this beautiful and harmless image of their religious celebrations into a multibillion dollar business and spread it globally through the media.

Simple, when we watch Hollywood films, Valentine’s Day is portrayed as the day where love is being celebrated and females are EXPECTED to receive gifts from the males. Apart from that, on 14th of February, people are so keen on getting a partner because as how it has been portrayed in Hollywood films, those who spent their Valentine’s Day alone are somewhat losers. How Hollywood portrays celebrating love in films? Sex!

What would (set aside the world) Malaysian teenagers be doing on that day? They would probably go out on a date with their partners. Seems harmless but with all the influence from the west, it’s not surprising if those lovebirds end up performing adultery because when male and female are alone together, the opposite attraction would definitely lead them doing all the things forbidden in any religion.

Well, according to my research, Valentine’s Day is the day whereby the Christians commemorate the death of a bishop named Valentine which later became Saint Valentine.

The story of St. Valentine has two different versions which are the Protestant and the Catholic versions. Nevertheless, both versions agreed that Saint Valentine was a bishop that held secret marriage ceremonies of soldiers in opposition to Emperor Claudius II. At that time, Claudius II prohibited marriage for young men.

This is due to the golden era of Roman Empire had almost come to an end. The Empire became too broad to be controlled what more to be protected. Thus men were required to be recruited as soldiers and officers to protect the nation. The reason behind the banning of marriage was because, Claudius II felt that married men are weak at heart as they are emotionally attached to their family. He feared these men couldn’t perform well on battlefields.

Young Roman lovers were shocked by the order but no one dares to voice out their opinion therefore, they seek help in Bishop Valentine. Bishop Valentine will hold a small holy matrimonial ceremony for them. After some time, the secret were accidently discovered and it went public. When the emperor finds out, Valentine was sent to prison and will be sentence to death. While waiting for his sentence, his prison warden approached him and told him about his blind daughter. Words have it that Valentine had saintly healing abilities so the warden wishes that Valentine could help heal his daughter’s eyes.

According to the Catholic, Valentine cured the girl’s sight using his strong faith in God. Meanwhile the Protestant agreed otherwise but both versions concluded that Valentine DID cured the girl’s vision.

Emperor Claudius II tried to convert Valentine into believing in Roman Gods and tried to make Valentine agree upon the marriage banning but he didn’t succeed. In fact, Valentine even tried to convert Claudius II into Christianity. Furious with Valentine’s stubbornness, Claudius ordered Valentines to be executed.

Before his death, he asked for a pencil and paper from his warden. He wrote a note for the warden to pass on his daughter. He wrote a farewell note and sign with the sentence “From Your Valentine”, the infamous phrase that lived ever after. It was said to believe that Valentine DID fell in love with the girl but it was not a passionate but Christian love. Valentine is believed to have been executed on February 14, 270 AD.

To date, Saint Valentine’s Day are celebrated by the Christians from all across the globe to honour the death of the Christian martyr that refused to renowned his religion.

NOW, this proves that V'Day is NOT the day where you MUST celebrate as LOVE DAY with your partner, by actual fact, it's the day the Christians commemorate the death of their martyr! I strongly agree that love should be shown and appreciate EVERYDAY! :)

p/s: I'm not saying that the sacrifice made by Saint V is unworthy of appreciation by the society, my point is, people should understand what a celebration is all about rather than being drown by the propaganda of the capitalists selling their products , consuming your money ^_^

I spent all day glued to YouTube
watching people's video blogs...
I'm usually not really an adventures person so I didn't really explore much!
I stick to vloggers I always watched.

HOWEVER,
on that day...
I was being an explorer on youtube
and searched for vloggers worldwide!

OK,
some are good, some are not bad and some are just

here are some pointers I would like to share...
just my opinion based on what I learn through
my observation while watching people's vlogs.

1) Camera Position

angle and composition are crucial!
sometimes, people tend to forget that they move around when they talk.
Thus, their head, hand gestures and even things they wanted to show
were out of frame! = =

2) Lighting

it's true that sunlight makes your skin glow, girls...
BUT! too much sunlight in a white room makes your face invisible!
I don't like watching invisible face talking!
I'm sure people love to watch facial expression!
If you're NOT confident in exposing your bare face, use make up!

3) Editing

YES! if you can't edit nicely, what's the point of vlogging = =
I'm NOT saying about the special effects!
I'm talking about bloopers and unnecessary scenes!
Repetitive scenes due to lazy editing!
If you guys are lazy editors, just stop VLOGGING!

4) Words

CHOICES of words!
Use words that are simple.
Easier for people to understand and relate to!
REMEMBER! Not everyone are well English educated like you vloggers!
Vlogging means you want to share information. It's your expression!
Avoid all difficult words.

5) Style

create a style of your own!
yes, you can make some other vloggers as your role model
but please don't copy their style!
you can create a catch-phrase that will make viewers remember you!

6) Appearance

It's not a bad thing if you dress up a little before you vlog!
rather than using the over exposed sun light to enhance your facial skin tone,
use concealer, foundation, compact powder or anything!
Iron your shirt and scarfs or hijab.
choose the right accessories!!
avoid wearing clothes with symbols that could spark racial disharmony!

7) Topic

choose topics that people could relate to!
find interesting topic to share!
speak from the bottom of your heart!
don't sound like wikipedia!

8) Planning

when there's no planning... that's when all the error happens!
plan on how to express you points.
REMEMBER the WHAT,WHEN,HOW,WHY,WHO?
used them in planning the explanation of your topic

9) Elements

yes, you might want to add in images, subtitles or anything... feel free to do so!
BUT!!!!! make sure the timing is right!
for the translation, make sure you translate it well
MAKE SURE the subtitles appear at the RIGHT time to avoid confusion!

BACKGROUND music!
make sure the background music does not swallow your words!
YES, it must not overpower YOUR voice!
no matter how beautiful the background music is,

I survived year 2011.

I don't quite remember how it all started...

Like how EXACTLY my days went for the year 2011.

Most of my times spent in the editing suite.
First project received BAD REVIEWS from all of the judges!
All of us in the team was frustrated but
I was disappointed with (almost) everything.

After a while of doing editing,
Editing was easier but SADLY,

there's always problems occurred when exporting the files.
DON'T ASK ME WHY!

FINAL PRODUCTION!
I'm sure I blogged about how well it went.
Yes,
starting from Radio PSA assignment,
I no longer HATE SCP and so,
Final News Production was not as hard!
I was being a bitch at some point,
I didn't care about my teammates' feelings because I was so caught up in a self-pity bubble.
Thank god everything went well and I am blessed to have friends that
could really tolerate with my diva-like personality.

Kisah si Penjual Mee Danging (part 4)

Sebaik sahaja aku melabuhkan punggungku di tempat duduk pemandu,
Jia Bao bersuara, "keluarga saya mahu hantar saya pergi New Zealand study sana".
"Jadi?", aku bertanya dalam keadaan bingung.
"Apa guna lagi saya belajar? Sekarang bisnes DVD saya banyak untung wo", terang Jia Bao.
"Kalau saya pergi ah, banyak rugi wo!", Jia Bao menghabiskan penjelasannya.
"Tapi, bisnes kau mampu menjamin masa depan meh?
Ia adalah suatu jenayah wo", aku membalas.

"Tiada ibu bapa ah yang ingin lihat anak mereka terkandas di sebalik tirai besi oh, Jia Bao",
aku menasihati Jia Bao dengan harapan dia memahami kiasanku.
"Dulu, tauke juga malas mau terus belajar. tetapi, setelah melihat kekecewaan yang terpancar di muka Ma, akhirnya tauke pergi study bisnes tapi di kolej murah lah",
aku berkongsi pengalaman hidup dengan harapan,
Jia Bao memahami betapa bernilainya ilmu.

"Apa guna tauke belajar bisnes tapi masih jual mee daging?
Kenapa tak buka restoran? Tak mungkin sudah lama berniaga masih tak ada modal buka kedai makan mah!", Jia Bao mengasak aku dengan pertanyaan yang bertubi-tubi?
Aku abaikan soalan-soalannya dan terus memandu meninggalkan kawasan sekolahnya.
Aku menukar topik dengan menceritakan pengalamanku di zaman kolej.

Setelah menghantar Jia Bao pulang seperti yang ku janjikan,
aku terus pulang ke rumah.
Apabila tiba di rumah, aku rebahkan diri ke atas sofa di ruang tamu setelah mengunci pintu girl.
Entah mengapa hari ini, aku kerap teringat kisah lalu.
Sambil aku terbaring merenung ke siling,
satu lagi kenangan mula bermain di mata.

9 Ogos, 2011
Aku berada di majlis penghormatan terakhir Pa.
Pa meninggal dunia akibat serangan sakit jantung.
Aku baru sahaja menamantkan tahun pertama di kolej swasta.
Mujur aku putuskan untuk pulang pada hujung minggu kerana sekiranya
aku tidak pulang ke rumah, tentu berat bagi Ma untuk mengawal emosinya seorang diri.
Mungkin kerana sikap Pa yang dingin dan tidak disenangi ramai, tidak ramai yang
menghadiri majlis pengebumian mayatnya.
Aku tidak begitu sedih kerana memang sejak azali lagi hubungan kami tidak akrab.
Mahupun begitu, aku sebak melihat Ma menangisi pemergian suaminya
yang pada pandanganku amat tidak bertanggungjawab.

Malam selepas upacara pengebumian mayat,
Ma menangis sehingga terlelap.
Tatkala melihat betapa sedihnya Ma, aku terus teringat waktu-waktu
aku menangis di pangkuan Ma sehingga terlena.
Setelah aku pastikan Ma benar2 sudah lena, aku pun beredar dari makar tidurnya
dan turun ke bilik yang dijadikan sebagai mini pejabat Pa.
Aku menggeledah bilik itu tanpa sebab dan hala tuju.

Entah mengapa,
walaupun sudah berkali-kali aku melangkah ruangan peribadi Pa itu,
aku terasa aneh sewaktu mengeledah barang-barang peninggalan Pa.
"Mungkinkah Pa berada bersamaku?", hatiku berbisik.
Aku abaikan perasaan itu dan terukan meneliti barang-barang Pa.
Aku masih tidak pasti tujuan aku melangkah masuk ke ruangan ini.
"Apakah yang ingin aku cari?", aku bertanya sendiri.

Di bawah timbunan surat-surat dan mungkin sampah sarap Pa,
aku terjumpa sebuah buku catatan kecil.
Aku yakin ianya tentang perihal perniagaan kerana Pa merupakan seorang usahawan
dan dia pasti akan berjaya sekiranya dia tidak menjadi kaki botol.
Tanpa membuang masa, aku membawa buku itu bersama ke atas bumbung rumah.
Bertemankan cahaya lampu jalan yang terang, aku mula menyelak helaian pertama buku itu.

15 Mac 1993

Isteriku selamat melahirkan seorang lagi anak lelaki.
Kami namakannya, Chan Zhi Wei.
Aku harap Chan Dao Wei dan Chan Zhi Wei akan bergaul mesra

dan kedua-dua anak lelakuki akan berjaya dalam hidup mereka.

Aku terkejut dengan apa yang aku bacakan kerana setelah peristiwa malam yang sunyi itu, Ma sama sekali tidak pernah lagi menyebut nama, Zhi Wei.
Namun, aku tetap meneruskan pembacaan.
Alangkah terharunya aku pabila mendapat tahu bahawa memang bnar Pa merupakan seoarang bapa yang amat menyayangi aku.
Semuanya tentang aku dicatatnya.
Bila aku mula meniarap, merangkak,berjalan, menyebut perkataan dan macam-macam kenangan lagi.

Catatan terakhir memberi kesan yang mendalam kepadaku.

Semenjak kematian Zhi Wei, Pa amat tertekan lalu menjadi kaki botol.
Perasaan bersalah yang terbuku di hati Pa semakin menggunung lalu Pa melakukan apa sahaja cara agar aku membencinya.
Pa berharap agar para dewa dan nenk moyang Chan akan dapat mememaafkannya
dengan menerima penebusan dosanya iatu dibenci oleh aku.

Bagi Pa,
hanya itulah hukuman terbaik kerana dia telah menyebabkan salah seorang waris keturunan Chan meninggal dunia sebelum dapat meneruskan warisan keluarga.

Bukan itu sahaja.
Apabila seorang anak meninggal dunia sebelum orang tuanya tanpa meninggalkan sekurang-kurangnya seorang zuriat,
dia dianggap penderhaka kerana gagal meneruskan keturunan.
Oleh itu,
Pa merasa berdosa kerana mengakibatkan Zhi Wei menjadi penderhaka keluarga Chan.

Lamunan aku terhenti dek bunyi loceng rumah.
Rupanya, Jia Bao mengikuti aku ke rumah dengan menaiki basikal.
Aku mempelawanya masuk.
"Jia Bao, tunggu sebentar. Tauke mau tukar baru sekejap",
aku memberitahunya lalu bergegeas ke atas.
Sudah sepatutnya aku berada di Star Shine Noodle Station pada waktu sebegini.

Selepas bersiap, aku terus mempelawa Jia Bao ke Star Shine bersamaku.
Setibanya kami disana, aku menyuruh para pekerjaku memberi
layanan istimewa kepada Jia Bao selaku tetamu khasku.

Kami menghabiskan waktu petang dengan berbual kosong.
Aku ada menyelitkan kisah hidupku dicelah-celah perbualan kami sebagai pengajaran.
"Jadi, setiap pagi jam 4, tauke akan mula mereneh kuah-kuah yang akan dijual,
kemudian pukul 1petang jual mee daging depan sekolah saya,
lepas jual, pergi kedai pula jaga kedai.
WAH! Tauke, tak penat ke?", kata-kata Jia Bao membuatku tertawa.

Pa,
kini Star Shine Noodle Station bergelar Chan Noodle Station.
Setiap tahun pada tarikh lahir Zhi Wei iaitu 15 Mac,
promosi beli 1 percuma 1 ke atas semua jenis hidangan diadakan bagi memperingati Zhi Wei.
Kami bersedekah atas nama Zhi Wei.

Jangan risau, Pa.
Ma dijaga dengan rapi oleh kami sekeluarga.
Tapi Ma mengalami sakit orang tua-tua kata doktor
dan ianya tidak begitu serius.
Ma selalu merindui Pa.
Ma tidak dapat hadir kari ini kerana kurang sihat.
4 orang anak lelakuku akan membantu menyambung
kesinambungan keturunan Keluarga Chan di dunia ini, Pa.
Maafkan aku kerana tidak memahami situasi sebenar terlebih dahulu.
Aku tidak pernah membenci Pa.

Pa, Zhi Wei dan nenek moyang sekalian,
bersemadilah kalian dengan tenang.
Aku, Ma, anak-anak, dan Susan akan bertemu kalian di Syurga kelak.
Teruskan melindungi kami

Masih lagi melutut, aku pacakkan colok di hadapan kubur Pa.
Ketika aku ingin bangkit dari posisi mulutut,
belkang badanku dipanjat anak bongsuku,
"Ah Pa, Jia Wei lapar..."
Aku mengendongnya di belakang badan dan bangkit bediri.
"ok, ucapkan selamat tinggal kepada atuk dahulu."

anak-anakku serta isteriku serentak berkata,
"Atuk berehat lah dengan tenang.
Kami akan selalu mendoakan atuk.
Kami pergi dulu ya."

Selesai mereka ucapkan selamat tinggal kepada Pa,
aku terus membawa mereka semua ke kereta.
"Ah Pa, jam saya rosak. Apa tarikh hari ini?", anak ketigaku, Wang Wei bertanya.
"Hari ini, 9 Ogos 2027", jawab anak sulungku, Chuong Wei
disambung kembarnya, Chong Wei, "tarikh atuk meninggal dunia."
"Abang terlupa!", ketawa Jia Wei.

Masa depan memang tidak dapat ku duga.
Namun, aku percaya, setiap kejadian pasti ada hikmahnya.

"Dulu, kau ada adik. Nama dia Zhi Wei". Air mata mula mengalir di pipi Ma.
"Satu hari, sewaktu hujan lebat, Ma, kau dan Zhi Wei hendak melintas jalan dari shopping mall.
Kau berlari melulu, melintas.
Ma mengejar kau tanpa menyedari bahawa kereta sorong Zhi Wei tidak dikunci.
Setelah Ma mendapatkan kau, Ma terdengar bunyi yang kuat",
kini, air mata Ma mengalir semakin deras.
Ma tercungap-cungap.
Dalam nada sebak dan nafas yang tersekat-sekat,
"Kereta sorong Zhi Wei dilanggar sebuah bas!"
"Zhi Wei mati, Ah Wei-ah!!!!".
kata Ma sambil meraung.

Aku terkedu mendengar penjelasan ma.
Aku keliru.
Tiba-tiba terasa hangat di pipi.
Air mataku juga turut sama mengalir.
Aku sama sekali tidak ingat akan kewujudan, Zhi Wei.
Oh, Tuhan, apakah semua ini?

Tanpa mengendahkan kekeliruan yang jelas terpancar di wajahku,
Ma meneruskan penjelasannya.
"Mungkin kau lupa.
Tambahan pula, selepas kematian Zhi Wei,
Pa amat kecewa lalu memaksa Ma membakar semua gambar-gambar, Zhi Wei.
Kami besarkan kau seolah-olah kau adalah anak tunggal kami".

Nafas Ma semakin chungap.
Aku pasti ini adalah kesan dari alkohol yang diminum Ma
kerana setelah menghabiskan kata-katanya itu,
Ma beredar ke kamar tidurnya masih teresak-esak.
Aku hanya mampu merenung meja makan yang sudah sejuk lauk-pauknya.
Itulah, malam yang paling sunyi dalam hidupku.

*KRINGGGGGGGGGG*
Loceng sekolah sudah berbunyi menandakan tamatnya
waktu persekolahan bagi sesi pagi bagi hari ini.
Seperti hari-hari sebelumnya,
para pelajar mula meluru ke loria niagaku.
Berbeza dengan kaedah yang digunakan Ma suatu ketika dahulu,
kini aku berniaga menggunakan lori.
Tiada lagi meja untuk meletakkan barang niaga
tetapi semuanya di atas lori.
Lebih mudah.

Tidak kira cuaca panas terik mahupun hujan lebat,
mereka tidak jemu-jemu membeli mee daging jualanku.
Ada diantara mereka merupakan pelanggan tetapku semenjak tingkatan 1 lagi.
Aku amat mengingati nama-nama mereka,
Lisa, Wilson, Ken Nie, Lee Jin, Jen Nie, Kah Mun, dan Walter.
Kini mereka semua merupakan pelajar tingkatan 5.
Setiap kali pulang dari sekolah, mereka pasti akan singgah dan membeli mee daging
sekurang-kurangnya satu bungkus biarpun berhutang.
Mereka tidak pernah lupa membayar hutang-piutang mereka
tetapi, ada juga masa-masanya di mana aku menghadiahkan mereka
mee daging percuma supaya mereka tidak berhutang.

Dalam aku sedang sibuk melayan karenah para pelanggan, aku terdengar seseorang berteriak
"TAUKE, ini hari saya da bao 6pek! Kasi daging extra ah tauke!!",
teriak Ken Nie di tengah-tengah barisan.
"Mana yang lain?", aku membalas.
"Semua sudah tunggu di rumah Lisa, nanti kami ada group study",
jelas Ken Nie yang masih lagi berteriak di pertengahan barisan.
Aku mengangguk dan meneruskan urus niaga aku sehingga selesai.

Tatkala aku sedang mengemas barangan setelah selesai menjual,
bahu aku ditepuk seseorang dari belakang.
Rupa-rupanya, murid yang keluar awal itu tadi yang menepuk bahuku.
"Kamu rupanya. Nak beli mee daging lagi kah?", aku bertanya.
Dari raut wajahnya dapat aku agak dia bermasalah.
Aku lihat tanda nama di baju sekolahnya tertera, Tan Jia Bao.

"Jia Bao-ah, jika ada masalah, kasitau sama tauke lah!
Mana tau, tauke boleh kasi tolong punya, oh?", aku memulakan perbicaraan.
Dia masih kelihatan teragak-agak untuk bersuara.
"Tak apa, macam inilah, kamu naik lori dulu.
Lepas ini, tauke hantar kamu balik rumah".
Aku putuskan untuk menghantar dia pulang ke rumahnya kerana khuatir
dia akan melakukan perkara-perkara bodoh.

Kisah si Penjual Mee Daging (part 2)

Setiap pagi, kami dua beranak akan berjalan sambil
memegang tong dan bekas berisi makanan untuk dijual.
Kami bernasib baik kerana meja untuk meletakkan barangan niaga
dibenarkan untuk disimpan di tepi pondok pengawal sekolah berdekatan gerai Ma.
Jika tidak, haruslah aku yang memikul meja itu setiap pagi dan
Ma pula memikulnya pulang setiap hari selepas habis jualan.

Pelanggan Ma hanyalah para pelajar dan ibu bapa mereka.
bagi menambah penjualan, aku mula mengambil pesanan dari rakan-rakan sekelas
dan pelajar-pelajar lain.
Berkat usaha gigih dan doa kami, wang simpanan Ma mula meningkat.

Pa pula semenjak tarikh keramat 20 disember itu,
tidak pernah menjejakkan lagi kakinya ke rumah.
Hidup aku seperti tidak berbapa.
Walaubagaimanapun, aku tidak pernah risaukan keadaan Pa kerana
sekali-sekala, Pa akan menelefon Ma untuk memberitahu bahawa
dia sudah memasukkan wang ke dalam bank akaun Ma.

Mungkin, Pa merasakan bahawa 50 Ringgit yang dikirimnya
sekali-sekala itu mampu menyara hidup kami dua beranak.
Pa tidak sedar bahawa hasil jualan Ma seminggu juga
mampu melebihi jumpah wang pemberian Pa.
Sungguhpun begitu, aku tetap bersyukur kerana
sekurang-kurangnya, Pa masih ingat akan kewujudan aku dan Ma.

Kalau ikutkan hati,
aku tidak mahu belajar lagi.
Aku hanya mahu bekerja dan menambahkan wang simpanan Ma.
Berkali-kali aku nyatakan hasrat aku namun, Ma membantah.
Kata Ma, pelajaranlah yang dapat menjamin masa depan.

Aku tidak setuju!
Ma merupakan seorang yang berpendidikan tinggi.
Tetapi, akibat kesulitan hidup, Ma akhirnya menjadi penjual nasi lemak
yang membuka gerai di tepi jalan.
Aku kecewa dengan takdir.

Di sekolah,
aku bukanlah pelajar terpandai dan minat aku terhadap pelajaran tidak pernah mekar
sehinggalah aku berkawan dengan gadis pintar, Chen Xiao Feng ketika di tingkatan 2.
Hairan, mengapa gadis sepintar Xiao Feng berada di dalam kelas aku.
Xiao feng merupakan pelanggan tetap nasi lemak Ma dan
sebab itu jugalah kami menjadi kawan baik.

Takdir tak selalunya kejam.
Pelajaran aku semakit meningkat setelah berkawan dengan Xiao Feng.
Malah, perniagaan Ma juga semakin memberansangkan.
Akan tetapi, setiap yang muncul, pasti akan hilang.
Begitu jugalah dengan, Chen Xiao Feng.
Selepas PMR, Xiao Feng berpindah ke Singapura kerana
bapanya mendapat tawaran bekerja di sana.
Sungguhpun begitu,
Aku tidak putus semangat.
Aku tetap amalkan segala teknik pembelajaran yg dikongsi Xiao Feng
dan akhirnya aku lulu SPM dengan keputusan yang memuaskan walaupun tidak cemerlang.

Xiao Feng dan aku tidak memutuskan perhubungan.
Dia memberitahu aku melalu e-mail bahwa dia akan melanjutkan pelajaranya ke Australia.
Aku gembira untuknya tetapi berlainan pula dengan aku,
aku sudah tidak lalu lagi untuk mentelaah.
Aku tidak memohon untuk memasuki mana-mana institusi pengajian tinggi.
Sebalinya, aku mengambil alih perniagaan Ma.
Aku dapat rasakan bahawa Ma amat kecewa dengan keputusanku.
walaupun perit, Ma tetap memberi sokongan terhadap minatku dalam perniagaan.

Satu malam tatkala kami sedang meraikan kemajuan gerai di waktu makan malam,
Ma menyatakan bahawa salah satu impiannya ialah untuk
melihat anak-anaknya memegang segulung ijazah.

Aku tercengang. "Anak-anak??", hati aku berdetak.
"Bukankah aku seorang sahaja anak Ma?", aku bermonolog dalaman.
Sebaik sahaja tersedar akan apa yang baru sahaja diluahnya, Ma mendakap mulutnya.
Aku keliru. "Dah tiba masanya untuk kau tahu hal sebenarnya, Ah Wei".
Kata-kata Ma membuatkan jantung aku berdegup laju.
Peluh mula memenuhi dahi.
Hati makin gelisah dan aku hampir rebah.

Kisah si Penjual Mee Daging (part 1)

Aku tidak pasti di mana ia bermula.
Mungkin kerana aku masih kecil maka daya ingatanku belum berkembang sepenuhnya.
Oleh itu, aku gagal mengingati di mana sebenarnya
titik permulaan zaman getir masa silamku.

Dibesarkan dalam persekitaran institusi kekeluargaan yang amat kucar-kacir,
zaman kanak-kanakku amat berbeza dari rakan-rakan sebaya.
Walaupun aku bukanlah dari keluarga yang miskin
dan tidak juga menetap di kawasan perumahan kerkos rendah,
hidup aku dan Ma sangat susah.

Hidup aku cuma ada Ma dan Pa.
Seingat aku, Pa ialah seorang bapa yang teramat tegas dan garang.
Dia selalu memarahi aku dan memukul aku biarpun aku tidak melakukan apa-apa kesalahan.
Setiap gerak-geriku, pasti akan ada sesuatu yang tidak disenanginya.

Ma selalu berpesan supaya aku selalu menjaga hati Pa.
Ma jugak selalu mengingatkan aku bahawa marah itu tandanya sayang.
Aku percayakan Ma dan cuba mengambil hati Pa.
Namun, segala usahaku tidak pernah mencukupi bagi Pa.
Pasti akan ada sesuatu yang merunsingkan Pa setiap hari dan aku akan menjadi mangsa
untuk Pa melepaskan ketidakpuasan hatinya itu.

SETIAP malam aku akan terlena di pangkuan Ma dengan
pipi yang lencun dek juraian air mata dan badan yang perit kesan kasih sayang Pa.

Hari pun berlalu.
Aku cuba untuk mengerti.
Cuba untuk memahami.
Akan tetapi, apalah sangat yang dapat difikirkan oleh seorang
budak berusia tujuh tahun ini?
Bukan sahaja dunia luar, kawasan perumahan sendiri pun belum habis aku terokai.
Akhirnya, aku mula menerima keadaan keluarga aku seadanya dan berhenti untuk cuba memahami situasi sebenar.

Makin lama, makin aku hilang hormat terhadap Pa.
Sungguhpun begitu, aku tidak berani untuk melawannya.
Perasaan hormat seorang anak hilang digantikan perasaan takut.
Aku seolah-olah trauma dengan bapa kandung sendiri.

Ma tidak pernah berhenti menceritakan bagaimana kami sekeluarga
pernah hidup dalam penuh kasih sayang danharmoni suatu ketika dahulu.
Tapi sayang, aku tidak mampu mengingati semua kenangan itu.
Pernah aku bertanya kepada Ma tentang apakah perihal yang menyebabkan pa berubah?
Namun, Ma hanya tersenyum dan berkata
bahawa bukan masanya untuk aku mengetahui puncanya.

Berbekalkan memori indah dari penceritaan Ma, aku sematkan di dalam lubuk hati bahawa
Pa amat menyayangi aku dan berharap Pa akan kembali seperti dahulu.

Tanggal 20 Disember 2001,
yakni tarikh lahirku yang ke-12,
Pa pulang dari pejabat pada lewat malam.
Pa pulang dalam keadaan yang sangat mabuk dan mula mengamuk tanpa sebab.

Pekikan Pa membuat aku terjaga dari lena.
Tidak semena-mena, Pa mengangkatku dari katil dan menghempas tubuhku ke lantai.
Lebam-lebam lama dibadan yang masih biru menambah kesakitan di badan.
Aku menggigil ketakutan lalu terkencing di atas lantai.

Ma meluru dari kamar tidurnya mendapatkanku.
Berkali-kali Ma menepis Pa dari terus menyakiti aku namun, Ma juga ditolahnya ke lantai.
Sejurus Pa melihat kotoran najis yang aku tinggalkan, Pa mencabut tali pinggangnya
lalu dilibas-libasnya belakang badanku.

"Tauke, tauke!!! Mee daging dua! Da bao!", jeritan pelanggan menghentikan lamunanku.
Aku mengangguk lalu mencurahkan kuah renehan daging ke dalam plastik, mengikatnya bersama sebungkus mee yang jugak dicelur dlm kuah renehan yang sama
dan menghulurkan bungkusan itu kepada pelanggan itu tadi.

"4 Ringgit. sekolah sudah habis meh?", aku bertanya kepada pelanggan itu.
"Belum lah tauke!!! saya keluar awal, lagi 10minit student semua keluar lah",
jawab pelanggan itu tadi dengan muka selamba.
Pelanggan itu merupakan salah seorang pelajar sekolah menengah yang terletak
bertentangan dengan kawsan perniagaan aku.

Entah kenapa aku tiba-tiba teringat akan kisah lama.
Pelanggan tadi pula membuatkan aku teringat kembali akan zaman remajaku.
Sewaktu aku berusia 13 tahun, Ma mula berniaga menjual
nasi lemak di depan sekolah menengah yang terletak agak jauh dari rumah kami.

Ma terpaksa membuka gerai di situ kerana kawasan itu baru dibuka.
Maka, tiada persaingan perniagaan di situ.
Untuk membantu meringankan beban Ma,
aku membuat permohonan untuk ditukarkan
ke sekolah berdekatan dengan gerai Ma.
Seandainya aku terus bersekolah di sekolah lamaku,
ianya sedikit sebanyak akan menggangu pekerjaan Ma
kerana Ma harus menyiapkan sarapan dan terpaksa menunggu aku
pergi ke sekolah sebelum berangkat ke tapak gerainya.
Walhal, setiap detik terpelas itu ibarat emas yang terlepas dari genggaman.

because on your first week after your orientation...
you will cross path with this dude...
yes, he doesn't really looked Malay and he have the type of
not-too-long hair which you adore!
(trust me, the hair will soon be gone and will end up like trash! but will look good again!)

you will often meet him in 10ten and plaza...
you like his presence!
you like his face...
but you don't know his name
(you won't know even until the third sem HAHAHAHAHA)

One day,
when you're inside 10ten,
he will enter and start singing some random Malay song...
(I know you'd smile and hurry to the cashier and pay)

My advice is,
STAY...
even if you are shy to turn your head towards him...
I know you like it but you're shy!
please stay for a while...
because that's the last time you'll ever hear him
singing REALLY close to you...
only you could hear!

On another day,
you'll see him posing near the stairs...
where's the stairs?
near 10ten's toilet!
YES! you KNOW that place yeah!!

I understand that you are happy to see him and that was why you walk so fast!
my advice is,
STOP!
I know you are actually in love with this one China boy
which I will explain about him later on but please...
hold your step...

Last sem,
I joint JJKL phase 1...
it wasn't that bad!
6 of my writings were published!
the feeling is awesome!

after knowing that I am one of the elite student for phase 2...
I got shocked!
TRUST ME!
I thought they had selected the wrong girl.
Someone who shared the same name as mine.

No, reconfirmed with my lecturer,
whom I called Mommy...
I am indeed one of the selected member of the elite team = =
Mommy says: "elite team CANNOT screw up!"

another lecturer (one of my fav lect),
whom I called Daddy on the other hand says:
"I will e-mail you guys about JJKL and we'll discuss tru e-mails"

YES! As a not-so-elite kinda student,
I wait and wait and wait for the e-mail...
Ignoring the fact that the whole faculty is busy with students' result!

Nevertheless, I did made an effort to ask around on JJKL updates!

BOOM! on the night of 3oth Novermber at around 2251 hour,
Someone named, Fameey texted me saying a meeting will be held in front of the library at 11am tomorrow!

Stupid bloody idiot phone,
I received that e-mail around 9am...
then, I saw a missed call from Daddy...
I called him back, asking about Fameey...
Then he said, "Fameey is not in the team"
So, he told me NOT to attend the meeting...
and he asked me to text Fameey to text Daddy regarding the meeting...

at around 10.40, Daddy called me and explained that...
another lecturer selected fameey and his crew to join the team
but there has been some miscomm, Daddy didn't know about it until that day!
So, I have to attend the meeting!

Turns out, I am the ONLY writer left who hasn't went to KL yet to do coverage!
THANK GOD for the lect who selected Fameey and crew!
besides them, Ignas and Sakina (my classmates) too have not yet went to KL...
In conclusion, we were all put as a small team to cover Jalan Tun Perak and Jalan Raja Laut!

what's new?

I'm always in the blue...

FINALLY, on the 9th of November, we finished the shooting of our FINAL NEWS PRODUCTION!

in case you guys are blur,

it's a REAL news production...
yearp!
we have the footages of our ENG, news montage, commercials and an anchorwoman!
our newsanchor is HOT weh!!!

In a way, I did some of the editing of the ENGs...
credits to Nining and Rong as well...

whatever it is,
I was the director for the production...
technically, I was the leader of the team!
I can safely say, I DID NOT fail as a leader...
Nevertheless, there's A WHOLE LOT MORE ROOM for improvement!

I found my primary school friend in campus!
Actually, he's my friend's brother but technically, we were friends as well
because the school wasn't THAT big and he's my brother's friend.
Besides, it's NOT like we were strangers back then!

he's leaving this week!
Thursday is his final working day!
I noticed that he looked familiar since the very first time I saw him...
BUT!!!!!!!!
I was afraid to ask him if we have met before!
afraid he might think of me as that stupid girl with cheap puck up lines!

long story short... last week Friday,
he asked if I happened to live or study at the same place as he did!
BINGO!!!!!!
he is INDEED my primary school's senior!

earlier today,
I saw him buying food for lunch...

I saw my crush "kiss" this one girl at the plaza...

I know he's not mine so I have no rights to feel angry but I did felt furious at that time!

The show started late though because of GOD KNOWS WHY... ><

Rain was really close!!!!
the coolest advanced birthday gift ever!!

he sang more than 10songs that night...

his performance?
SUPERB!

he gain weight?
maybe...
but he wasn't fat!!!

most memorable moment?
right b4 he sang Hip Song...
the crowd was quite in a silent mode...
just in awe watching him standing with the spotlight only on him...
I screamed: Opppaaaaaaaaaaa!!! Hip Song!!
he looked at the crowd generally, nodd his head
and then start singing the chorus part of Hip Song....

I assume the nodding was for me ^^
ahhhh!!
I'm high....
high on love!!!!

Posters of him were thrown away...
my friend caught it and gave it 2 me ^^

he didn't took his top off but still...
just watching him performing for almost an hour is MORE than enough for me...

besides, it's my 1st time watching Korean Star in Malaysia...
it was right in front of the stage!

Song Seung Hun donates $175,000 USD to victims of Japan’s earthquake

It’s been revealed that top Hallyu actor Song Seung Hun has donated 200 million won (approximately $175,000 USD) to the Salvation Army for disaster relief in Japan.

According to the Salvation Army on March 14th, Song Seung Hun directly deposited a donation of 200 million won into the charity’s fund raising account.

Song Seung Hun stated, “It’s so heartbreaking to see what happened in Japan, so I had to help at least a tiny bit, and I figured Salvation Army would be best. If everyone can donate something small, a big positive change can occur.”

Meanwhile, on March 19th, a charity event for the Salvation Army is expected to take place in downtown Seoul.

after interviewing the producer/director...
I feel INSPIRED!

I'm now aware with the FACT
that the broadcasting field
is BROAD and tough...
and it ain't EASY to survive in it
but somehow...

I feel like I've chosen the right path...
I was sooooo GLUED on JOURNALISM
but the course I'm taking MADE me study broadcasting as well...
so NOW! boy I'm glad I'm studying BOTH!

but my passion still lies in writing but who knows...
one day I can direct my own dramas?
'cuz I would LOVE to publish my very own novels (maybe just storybooks)
and write scripts for dramas...
not THOSE long 200+ episodes..
just 20 eps or maybe less...
MOVIE? that's too heavy for me kekeke....

if I HAVE money...
I can WRITE/DIRECT/PRODUCE
my own shows/dramas/film
but still...
need the knowledge!!

The F1 post-race concert featuring Rain on April 10 will be open for free for all Grandstand ticket holders of the 2011 Formula 1 PETRONAS Malaysian Grand Prix; but those with Hillstand tickets will need to top up by RM138 to catch the superstar’s performance.

However, in conjunction with the on-going F1 Carnival in Kuala Lumpur, race promoter Sepang International Circuit (SIC) will be offering a special combined ticket for access at both the F1 race and the 2011 Malaysia Grand Prix Concert Rain Live at RM200 for seats at the covered Hillstand C2.

“These promo tickets, however, is only available at our ticket counter at Fahrenheit Mall Kuala Lumpur; and is only offered for the first 1,000 ticket buyers. And, it’s just for three days; beginning today. So, I guess you will need to act fast to grab these promo tickets,” says SIC Chief Executive Officer Dato Ahmad Razlan Ahmad Razali.

On October 14th, the most viewed movie during the 2010 Chuseok holiday, Mujeokja, opened at theCGV Cinemas in Los Angeles. Mujeokja retells the story of John Woo’s 1986 Hong Kong action film,A Better Tomorrow. Starring two of Korea’s 20 hottest male celebrities in Joo Jin Mo and Song Seung Hun, the Korean remake stays true to the spirit of the original film, while placing it in a Korean context with a new twist to the ending.

The movie revolves around a noble yet guilt-ridden older brother, Kim Hyuk (played by Joo Jin Mo), his resentful younger brother, Kim Chul (played by newly wed actor Kim Kang Woo), and Hyuk’s loyal and trustworthy best friend, Lee Yong Choon (played by Song Seung Hun). Hyuk and Yong Choon are riding steady as partners in crime at the top of an arms trafficking gang. However, things change when Hyuk finally meets with his long-lost younger brother, Chul. Although Hyuk is overjoyed to be reunited with Chul, Chul sees his brother as an enemy for abandoning him and his mother while escaping from North Korea, and blames him for his mother’s death.

Hyuk decides to clean up his act and quit gunrunning after one final job in Thailand. Unfortunately, Hyuk finds himself in a set-up plotted by the ambitious and greedy newbie, Jung Tae Min (played by therecently enlisted Jo Han Sun). He manages to escape the scene, but eventually surrenders to the Thai police and is imprisoned for 3 years. Back in Korea, Yong Choon hears the news, seeks revenge and kills the Thai gang involved. In the process he gets shot behind the knee, leaving him permanently crippled. Chul, on the other hand, becomes a cop and continues to hold a grudge against his older brother. Upon Hyuk’s release from prison, he returns to Korea to find that Tae Min is now the head of the gang, and Chul in charge of Tae Min’s case.

The first two thirds of the movie dragged out and failed to captivate, but the epic action packed emotional final third of the movie made up for deficit. A story of love and betrayal, loyalty and abandonment; it may not be a blockbuster hit like The Man From Nowhere, but Mujeokja is sure to please fans of the original Hong Kong film.

Mujeokja is currently playing at the CGV Cinemas in Los Angeles. While it currently does not feature English subtitles, they will be added this weekend. Check out the CGV Cinemas website or Facebookpage for more details.
